A senior delivery manager is accountable for the effective delivery of complex, high risk products and services. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide leadership and co-ordination of the delivery of AI products/solutions to provide better and more efficient public services and to ensure AI benefits every citizen in Wales.
This will involve a variety of work including (but not limited to):
- Support the Lead AI Delivery Manager in the development, delivery and oversight of an organisation-wide guardrails and AI governance model
- Work very closely with WG’s Data Science Unit to provide public sector leadership on adoption of tools, including those developed by the UK Government, under the umbrella of the Office for AI.
- Support the Lead AI Delivery Manager to provide authoritative, strategic advice to business areas on approved AI tools available and how they might support the organisation.
- Work closely with the Centre for Digital Public Services, an ALB, to provide leadership and co-ordination across the public sector on AI delivery.
Whilst reporting to the Head of Office for AI, the Senior AI Delivery Manager roles will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager (G7) on specific delivery work packages and work closely with Senior AI Policy Managers as part of the Digital Policy, Workforce & Change Division.
We are interested in people who:
- Have an interest in AI and developing an in-depth knowledge of delivering AI products/solutions and applying this knowledge to their role.
- Possess effective planning and organisational skills to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Have experience of building and maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
- Have experience of a wide variety of government/ministerial business
- Be able to draw on their previous experiences when delivering AI products/solutions
Key tasks:
- The postholder will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager, working very closely with WG’s Data Science Unit, to provide public sector leadership on adoption of AI tools and services, including those developed by the UK Government, under the umbrella of the Office for AI.
- The postholder will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager, enabling them to provide authoritative, strategic advice to business areas on approved AI tools and services available to use and how they might support the wider objectives of organisation.
- The post holder will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager in maintaining a register of use cases, triaging this in collaboration with the Data Science Unit in terms of prioritisation and pointing teams towards the most appropriate tools
- The post holder will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager on the development, delivery and oversight of an organisation-wide guardrails and AI governance model
- The post holder will support the Lead AI Delivery Manager to own the internal AI governance process and work with other parts of DDAT to ensure it is working effectively, including a log of all Welsh Government AI deployments/use.
- Support the Lead AI Delivery Manager in leading on internal capability for AI, including the planning and delivery of training programmes and owning learning lab content
- Support the work of the WG wide AI community of practice and associated workplan.
- Work closely with the Centre for Digital Public Services, an ALB, to provide leadership and co-ordination across the public sector on AI adoption and delivery.
- Work closely with UK Government to understand and exploit the AI tools it is developing for public services in England for the benefit of Wales.
Office requirements:
Welsh Government have a hybrid working model based on being in your contracted office when there is a business requirement or when it suits your individual preference. Our staff are able to work from alternative locations, including from home when there is no requirement to be in their contracted office.
