Job Description
Following the foundation of business analyst, I the business analyst II role allows analysts to continue building on the analysis role. Taking on more responsibility in terms of the complexity of work assigned and interaction with other analysts, team members and clients.
Analysts work under the support of more experienced analysts whilst supporting more junior analysts in their development of their knowledge. They will be responsible for the analysis of complete features within larger software implementations, without the need for detailed direction and to complete the work assigned on the agreed timelines and with the required quality.
Responsibilities
- Developing an understanding of the way our applications specifically supports business processes.
- Configuration of the application to support client requirements, with minimum support from more experienced analysts.
- Analysis of business processes, functions and procedures to determine the most effective business systems technology that meet the needs of the organisation, with a low level of support from more experienced analysts.
- Writing specifications and acceptance criteria based on business requirements, with a low level of support from more experienced analysts.
- Building a joint understanding of the requirements across the other stakeholders (other analysts, developers, testers, project management, product owners).
- Providing input on initial estimates to their Lead Analyst / Project Team.
- Providing updated estimates to complete to their Lead Analyst / Project Team.
- Liaising with their Lead Analyst within their project team / pod around escalations and problem resolution.
- Managing expectations and consulting/problem-solving to entrench relationships built on trust and delivery
- Execute training for clients and other team members.
- Assist with planning and actively support pilot projects and roll-out tasks.
- Reviewing with the assistance of more experienced analysts the coverage of tests executed by the QA team.
- Assisting during the execution of User Acceptance Testing.
- Understanding of the product the analyst works in.
- Act as the analysis project lead where required, with support from more experienced analysts or team members
- Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Demonstrable experience working in an analysis role.
- Effectively gather, manage and document requirements, and development of use cases.
- Understanding of the Project Life Cycle and Agile development and testing principles.
- Understanding of the structure and processes of the London Insurance Market and Global Insurance Markets.
- Understanding of the product the analyst works in.
- Understanding of process design and documentation methodologies.
- Understanding of how the application can be used and configured.
- An understanding of how to perform testing of the application with hands-on experience in testing.
