The firm
Fox Williams offers a unique opportunity to advance your career in a personable, progressive and entrepreneurial environment. Our people and culture are important to us and central to everything we do. We continually strive to create and maintain a friendly and supportive environment for our staff. You will quickly get to know everyone from the Senior Partner to the most junior staff. Whilst we are recognised for our strong culture and investing in our people, we are equally well known for our high profile matters, quality of our work and solving our clients’ most complex legal issues.
The department
The Fox Williams’ Speciality and Structured Finance team acts for both originator and lending side clients with typical clients being UK, European and North American Fintech lending platforms (both corporate and consumer lending), mortgage loan originators, asset managers, challenger banks and credit funds. Some notable clients include Starling Bank, Allica Bank, Revolut, AvCap, Curve, Fintex Capital (for whom we financed Forest Bikes), GenH, Insight Investment, Zilch, Omno and many more
The opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Senior Associate or Legal Director to support our market leading Speciality and Structured Finance team. The role will be working closely with Partners Jonathan Segal and Ed Bellamy.
Typical work would involve advising with respect to public and private securitisations, warehouse financings, forward flow transactions and portfolio sales across a wide variety of asset classes including consumer loans, SME lending, residential and commercial mortgage loans, speciality finance, trade receivables, corporate loans and a mixture of esoteric assets. Deal size will vary from the £5,000,000 initial debt financing through to, and including, £250m/£300m securitisations.
In addition, we are offering the opportunity to: immerse yourself in the wider Structured Finance and FinTech community, generate your own network and business opportunities, and become part of an entrepreneurial and collaborative cross-departmental team.
Personal attributes and skills
This role is suitable for candidates who have 5 years’ experience in banking and finance, including at least 2 years of direct experience in Structured Finance in their current role. We would be interested in those with experience in leading on structured finance transactions (both drafting and review side). Given the wider Fox Williams’ client base, it would be beneficial, although not a prerequisite, if the relevant candidate had experience with FinTech originators and the regulatory space in which they operate.
