Senior Audit Manager - NFP

Simpson Judge are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and growing accountancy firm to recruit a Senior Audit Manager for their specialist Not-for-Profit (NFP) team. This is a key leadership role within a practice recognised for its strong presence across the charity, education, and wider third-sector space.

The Opportunity

As Senior Audit Manager, you will oversee a high-quality portfolio of NFP clients, delivering complex audit engagements and providing sector-specific insight. You will play an important role in shaping the direction of the team, supporting junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of an already thriving NFP offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a varied portfolio of NFP audits, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the firm’s technical standards.
• Plan, oversee and review audit engagements, offering clear direction and resolving technical matters when required.
• Act as a trusted advisor for clients, maintaining strong relationships and delivering informed, sector-relevant guidance.
• Review financial statements and audit files in accordance with UK GAAP, Charities SORP and ISAs.
• Coach, mentor and develop audit staff, supporting their professional growth and performance.
• Contribute to business development, tenders and proposals as part of the wider NFP growth strategy.
• Keep up to date with regulatory and sector developments, sharing knowledge across the team.

Skills & Experience

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIPFA).
• Significant post-qualification experience within external audit, with strong exposure to NFP or public-benefit organisations.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing standards, UK GAAP and ideally Charities SORP.
• Proven experience managing audit teams, complex engagements and client relationships.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to balance technical leadership with commercial awareness.
• A genuine enthusiasm for the Not-for-Profit sector.
