Role Description / Purpose of the role:

The Engineering Team is responsible for carrying out the testing, service, repair and calibration of equipment to manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances following in house test procedures.
The Senior Base Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality engineering support, ensuring all maintenance, inspection, servicing, and repair activities for electronic survey and NDT equipment are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This includes ensuring all equipment is serviced, tested, and fully interfaced in line with client requirements for upcoming projects.
They are expected to lead by example within the workshop, maintaining a consistently professional manner and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. As Senior Base Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, on time, and in accordance with the highest QA standards, with strict adherence to all Oceanscan procedures.
The Senior Base Engineer will also play an active role in training and developing other staff, supporting skill growth across the team. When required, they will lead the engineering team, organising workload, prioritising tasks, and ensuring operational requirements are met effectively.
In addition, the Senior Base Engineer will be expected to engage professionally with clients, both in person and over the phone, providing clear communication, technical guidance, and exceptional customer support. At all times, they must uphold the highest standards of professionalism, representing Oceanscan positively and ensuring strong, confident client relationships
Role Requirements:
To apply for this post you must have HNC or equivalent in a relevant area; Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Systems. Candidates must have experience of servicing, testing/interfacing and repair of electronic survey equipment as well as experience of Pcb investigation, soldering, crimping and mechanical assembly. With exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work unsupervised, you must demonstrate your experience of working to a high standard. Indeed, with the occasional need to provide technical support to our customers, potentially offshore, we also require you to have good communication skills and solid experience of Microsoft Office Suite.
Although the main role is workshop based in Aberdeen, it is expected that you will support occasional mobilisations for clients so flexibility is required to travel to international locations both on and offshore.
