Job Overview
The post holder will work as the Senior Booking Officer for Obstetric Ultrasound (US). They will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and contributing proactive information to support the clinical US team.
The post holder will be solely responsible for the booking of all Obstetric US scans and assisting with any administrative duties that are required within the department.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will assist with the day to day running of the administrative aspect of Obstetric Ultrasound.
- The post holder will work closely with the clinical areas to support the Trust’s targets, i.e. BMUS guidelines for Obstetric scans.
- The post holder will be involved in transforming current work practices to meet all Trust requirements.
- The post holder will be responsible for any administrative tasks including communication with our primary care services, minute taking, supporting on any meetings deemed necessary, answering phone calls from both patients and staff and covering the front reception desk in times when there is no other cover available.

- To work within the Radiology Department, undertaking reception and clerical duties, and scheduling appointments in accordance with the needs of the Radiology Directorate.
- To process incoming referrals and book patient appointments based on clinical priority, adhering to the Radiology Department's protocol.
- To assist Radiographers, Sonographers, and Nursing staff in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. This includes greeting patients, verifying demographics, examination details, referrer and GP information, and ensuring accurate documentation of patient records.
- The role also involves telephone communication with patients and clinicians.
- This is a patient-focused, service-oriented, and varied role.
- The post holder will primarily book patient appointments and provide administrative and clerical support to the Ultrasound Department. This will involve making and receiving calls with patients and covering the reception desk as required. The post involves data input into the EPIC computer system.

Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent
- NVQ 3 in Business and Administration or at least 2 years NHS experience.
