As a Senior Business Change Manager, you will set the direction with a business change lens on complex and transformational change programmes and play a key role in ensuring that programmes (change initiatives) meet their objectives of delivering complex changes to operational areas. You will define the requirements for the delivery of the changes to the business areas and ensure that interventions are planned which establish the new ways of working, increase employee adoption and usage, and embed change into the organization.

You will work within a matrix management system working alongside Project or Programme team. You will act as a trusted advisor to leaders and business SMEs and will scale from area-specific initiatives to larger, organisational-wide transformation programmes.

You will ensure that the impact of change initiatives across the projects are understood by all stakeholders, and that those impacted by the change are supported and prepared to adopt new ways of working. You will ensure that changes to business processes, systems, technology are identified, mitigated and that future benefits and project progress is communicated. You will also ensure that changes to technology, ways of working, processes and governance are embedded and sustained in order to deliver the desired business outcomes.

You will work within and apply a structured methodology using a Change Management framework, while introducing your own Change value-adds which you have developed over time and experience and support the development of the Business Change capability of the division; being an advocate and role model for the profession, coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.

Primary Outcomes and Accountabilities:

  • Using a structured Change methodology, process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption and benefits realisation of the changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Applying an as-is (assessment of current processes/ways of working/governance/technology), to be (identification of future processes/ways of working/technology needs) and gap analysis as well as Change impact assessment.
  • Identifying what changes in processes, procedures and practices are needed to achieve the change and deliver the planned benefits
  • Preparation of risk mitigation tactics
  • Management of anticipated resistance to change
  • Delivery of actions for change management levers: assessment of as-is/to-be, gap analysis, communications plan, sponsor/stakeholder roadmap, training plan, anchoring plan.
  • Measuring and reporting success metrics and monitors for change processes
  • Communication - enabling the design, development, delivery and management of key communications, in line with the agreed communication plan, ensuring consistent and clear messages, appropriately timed, which maximise engagement and ownership in individual businesses.
  • Training - driving the design and delivery of training programmes for user and super-user training
  • Completing Change Management assessments
  • Consulting and coaching stakeholders, managers and teams on Change management best practice and approach
  • Creating actionable deliverables for any extend plans such as Resistance Management plans
  • Act as trusted advisor to senior leaders
  • Co-ordinate effort with other specialists and programme colleagues.
  • Design heat-maps to evaluate user readiness for change and adoption within the context of other activities
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress
  • Be an active member of the Change Management CoP and support the development of Change Management approaches for the Bank


Minimum Criteria

  • Demonstrable change management experience delivering technology and/or business change with proven understanding of processes involved in introducing and delivering change.
  • Experience using proven change methodology, reporting and change frameworks
  • Experience of communications planning and delivery to support change initiatives, and able to clearly articulate messages to a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience in working effectively at the initiation/start-up stage of any Change programme

Essential

  • Demonstrate strong presentation and coaching skills
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with technical staff as well as business users and stakeholders at all levels
  • Negotiation skills and interpersonal fluency, able to establish and maintain strong relationships and relate confidently to users at all levels

Desirable Criteria

  • Professional Change Management qualification (Prosci/APMG etc)
  • Experience as a project manager, and/or understanding of the project management delivery cycle
  • Experience in working on the delivery and completion of Change and Transformation programmes with delivered and measurable benefits
  • Experience of working in public sector projects setting
  • Experience of supporting the definition of business change outcomes with regard to benefits management

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

The salary scale for this role is, Leeds, £59,520 - £66,960 and London, £66,160 - £74,430.

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
  • Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
  • 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
