THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic (Senior) Business Development Manager whose primary focus will be driving growth in the UK, while also supporting business development activities across mainland Europe. You will be joining a newly created, European territory Business Development team, and in close collaboration with Senior BD Director Europe, you will be responsible for proactively growing RoukenBio’s customer base within the UK and Europe. You will join RoukenBio at an exciting stage in its growth journey and be instrumental in expanding awareness of RoukenBio in the UK/Europe. As a representative of the Company, you will develop RoukenBio’s reputation in UK/Europe as the most trusted research partner for biotherapeutic and immunotherapy development. You will have a strong scientific background, in a relevant discipline and be comfortable in navigating the drug development lifecycle. Located in UK (London, Cambridge Oxford or commuting distance to these locations), you will be expected to secure face to face meetings with companies that represent RoukenBio’s ideal customer profiles (ICPs). You’ll engage with therapeutic developers from biotech and pharma clients, promoting specialist pre-clinical research services, and play a pivotal role in expanding the customer base by generating engagements that are in alignment with RoukenBio’s strategic goals and commercial priorities. Using your scientific background, coupled with commercial mindset, you will be capable of leading and guiding credible discussions with key scientific stakeholders, allowing you to appropriately qualify opportunities independently.
WHAT WE EXPECT YOU TO DO
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently identify, develop and nurture new business opportunities across the UK/mainland Europe.
• Apply scientific and commercial expertise to engage and qualify target customer profiles.
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities aligned with RoukenBio’s growth targets.
• Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to engage prospective customers.
• Credibly communicate scientific services to convince technical and commercial stakeholders of RoukenBio’s value proposition.
• Collaborate with internal scientific and operational teams to develop tailored, value-driven proposals.
• Represent RoukenBio at industry events and customer meetings in UK and Europe (30–50% travel).
• Ensure market feedback and intelligence flow into innovation and marketing planning.
• Use CRM and data tools to track performance, inform strategy, and report progress. Making necessary adjustments based on real time data.
• Work closely with the commercial team (CBO, BD Directors, CSM Director, Head of Marketing ) to develop commercial and marketing strategies, as well as improving messaging and scientific/marketing material.
• Uphold RoukenBio’s values in all interactions.
Key Metrics & Success Indicators
Performance will be verified through (measurable) evidence of:
• Creation of leads and new business opportunities.
• Conversion of opportunities to new customers for RoukenBio in the UK (and Europe) to achieve territory sales order targets.
• Development of long-term client relationships, displaying empathy for their needs and achieving high customer satisfaction.
• Maintain accuracy of activity and CRM data, allowing provision of real time metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor the output of your activities.
• Measure and report KPIs. Use these to inform and adapt your and your team’s approaches.
• Make recommendations that will deliver improved results for you and your colleagues using evidence-based analysis.
• Collaborate with commercial team colleagues to communicate and learn from successes and failures.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU
Essential:
• Based in the UK, within commuting distance to London, Cambridge, or Oxford.
• PhD in Immunology, Biology, Oncology, or related field (MSc/BSc considered with relevant experience).
• Deep understanding of pre-clinical research within immunology, oncology or biologics-based therapeutic development
• An individual who is energised by interacting with new people and possesses a high EQ and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and Europe (30-50% of time).

• 5+ years in life sciences or biotech business development, with proven track record in sales growth and market expansion
• Skilled in influencing, negotiation, pricing, and profitability management.
• Ability to translate scientific concepts and offerings into business value
• Ability to connect scientific insights to market needs and to clearly articulate the value proposition and to support commercial strategy.
• Experience with relevant software (e.g. LinkedIn, HubSpot, ZoomInfo).
• Experience working within a CRO environment.
