Aspen is seeking a Senior Capital Modelling Analyst to join their highly regarded Corporate Finance team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of Aspen's Economic Capital Model (ECM), supporting both regulatory and strategic business objectives.

You will be at the heart of capital modelling activities, collaborating with talented colleagues across the organisation and engaging directly with key stakeholders. Aspen offers a supportive environment where your analytical expertise and commitment to process improvement will be valued, and where you can make a meaningful impact on the company's risk management framework.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Capital Modelling Analyst at Aspen in London, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of economic capital modelling. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you coordinating complex data flows for selected risk categories while ensuring that all outputs meet stringent regulatory standards. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple departments to guarantee data integrity and support business planning cycles through robust capital calculations. Your ability to communicate technical findings clearly will be essential as you present results to committees and respond thoughtfully to stakeholder queries. By actively participating in model development projects-ranging from methodology refinement to parameter updates-you will help ensure that Aspen's ECM remains fit-for-purpose amid evolving market conditions. Your proactive approach will also drive process improvements that enhance both efficiency and compliance within the team.

  • Support the production of Economic Capital Model deliverables for various regulatory entities including the PRA, Lloyd's of London, BMA, and rating agencies by ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Assist in entity-level business planning and reforecasting processes by producing capital calculations and detailed exhibits, including technical explanations of movements.
  • Ensure compliance with operational control processes related to the ECM as well as internal model policies such as model change documentation and approval protocols.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance existing controls and processes within the capital modelling function, driving improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate the delivery, production, and analysis of selected risk category results for use in risk reporting to committees, boards, and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to modelling activity for additional risk categories as required by processing data feeds, performing output analysis, preparing commentary, and supporting regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams within Aspen responsible for providing data inputs to ensure high data quality standards are met while managing issues or timetable constraints effectively.
  • Assist with elements of ECM development including methodology enhancements, model coding updates, parameter reviews, and exposure analysis to maintain robustness of the model.
  • Complete elements of production control dashboards in line with Aspen's ECM Operational Control Framework requirements.
  • Deliver clear communication of capital model results and analysis to stakeholders across Aspen, explaining changes arising from shifts in risk profile or model methodologies.

What you bring:

In this Senior Capital Modelling Analyst position at Aspen, your background in insurance capital modelling will enable you to contribute meaningfully from day one. Your academic achievements reflect your capability with quantitative subjects while your progress towards actuarial qualifications demonstrates your dedication to ongoing learning.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts relevant to capital modelling within non-life or Life insurance sectors such as consultancy or London Market organisations.
  • Experience applying capital modelling techniques under Solvency II or equivalent regimes; familiarity with Tyche or Igloo software is highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling you to explain complex quantitative concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard office software tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for effective data manipulation and presentation.
  • A strong analytical mindset with proven ability to handle quantitative tasks accurately while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive attitude towards improving processes by identifying inefficiencies or risks within existing frameworks and suggesting practical solutions.
  • Programming experience (such as VBA or SQL) is highly desirable for automating tasks or enhancing model functionality within the ECM environment.
  • A 1st or Upper 2nd (2:1) degree from a top-tier university in a numerically focused subject such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or similar discipline.
  • Progress towards actuarial qualification (part-qualified or student actuary) demonstrating commitment to professional development through exam success.
