About us

The City of London Corporation works to enhance the competitiveness of the City and provides local government for the City of London – the Square Mile. A fundamental component is supporting and promoting London as the world’s leading international financial and business centre and contributing to the success of London as a place to live and work. Like many other organisations, we regularly engage with politicians and Parliament on issues in which we have particular experience or expertise, helping Parliament to debate and make decisions informed by a wide range of evidence. Within the City Corporation, the Corporate Affairs Team is responsible for leading on this engagement.

The role

The Senior Corporate Affairs Officer will participate to the development and implementation of the corporate affairs strategy of the City Corporation and ensure that strategic political aims of the City of London Corporation are met. You will work collaboratively across departments to inform our engagement strategy with national policy makers and London government. You will plan, organise and successfully deliver events, in particular at party political conferences. You will coordinate the City of London Corporation’s engagement with key stakeholders, think tanks and political figures and work collaboratively to seize opportunities for engagement with Government, Parliament and Local government.

About you

An exceptional communicator, both in person and in writing, you’ll have a strong track-record in public and parliamentary affairs, coupled with the ability to nurture working relationships at all levels. A good knowledge of how policy and legislation is developed is essential, as is a close understanding of parliamentary procedure and the operation of the two Houses. Highly organised, you’ll be capable of working under pressure and balancing competing demands. You’ll also have good IT skills, including the ability to work with databases. This is a busy and demanding role so the ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, experienced and highly organised individual who likes a challenge.

Closing date: 29 June 2025

First interviews will be held on 4 July 2025 (online)

Second interviews are planned in person for week commencing 7 July 2025

Because our roles are so varied, we don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ policy for workplace attendance. How many days a week you’ll be required to attend your workplace will depend on the requirements of your role. It’s important that you understand the requirements before applying to ensure you are able to meet them. We are committed to considering requests to work flexibly and job share. Requests will be considered by the recruiting manager in line with our policies and business needs.

For more information on our categories for workplace attendance, please view our guide here.

We will be reviewing this policy and approach at regular intervals to ensure we’re meeting our attendance needs.
