Senior Data Engineer

Location: Manchester (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + 10% bonus

We’re working with a leading high street retailer who are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their growing data team. This well-established international business undergoing a major digital transformation. The organisation is investing heavily in data and technology to drive innovation and customer-centric solutions. You’ll join a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with plenty of opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and optimise MSSQL Server and Snowflake environments.
Design and implement scalable database architectures and storage solutions.
Build and maintain ETL processes for data ingestion and transformation.
Implement robust backup, recovery, and security strategies.
Support CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align data solutions with business needs.
Champion best practices in database administration and cloud data platforms.

Skills & Experience

5+ years in Data Engineering or Database Administration.
Strong expertise in MSSQL Server and Snowflake.
Proven experience in query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with ETL tools (DBT, Fivetran, Census; Alteryx desirable).
Familiarity with CI/CD processes and automation.
Knowledge of Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Logic Apps (desirable).
SnowPro certification and experience with Terraform or PySpark (advantageous).
