About the role:
We are looking for a talented Senior Mainframe Developer to join the Warehouse Tech team based in our South Elmsall office. The team develop and maintain the software applications that are used throughout Next’s highly automated warehouse and distribution network.
Working across our UK and international warehouse estates, you’ll help develop and support the systems to ensure they transform and stay robust so thousands of items of product can be picked, packed and dispatched daily.
This will involve everything from understanding and interpreting technical specifications, and turning them into working code, using a mix of technologies. Ideally, you will have solid experience in the full development life cycle, including requirements gathering, systems/ business analysis and technical development.
You’ll work on different project streams that will support our UK and international operations, including looking at getting stock across the globe and continuing the evolution of our warehouse and distribution offering. You’ll help provide development support to internal users, as well as offering out-of-hours cover.
You’ll also use your expertise and experience to help us continually improve our processes and working practices, actively enabling the department to become as efficient and effective as it can be.
