This is a key leadership role in our Digital Innovation Team at Westmorland and Furness Council, providing senior-level expertise in digital service design. As we continue to transform how we deliver services to our communities, this role will be central in helping us design better, more accessible, and more efficient digital experiences.

As Senior Digital Service Design Officer, you’ll lead the Digital Service Design function, managing a team and overseeing the development and delivery of digital projects that support our Customer and Digital Programme. You’ll work closely with services across the Council to identify challenges, redesign processes, and create end-to-end solutions that put the customer at the centre.

From embedding agile practices to building a network of internal “Citizen Developers”, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how digital change happens – and ensure it delivers real benefits for our residents and staff.

Who we are looking for…

We’re looking for someone with significant experience of managing digital transformation in a complex organisation, ideally with a strong track record in user-centred design and service improvement. You’ll be confident in leading projects and people, and comfortable influencing at all levels, including in political and multi-stakeholder environments.

You’ll bring expertise in agile ways of working, process mapping, and performance analysis, alongside excellent communication and leadership skills. You’ll be able to challenge existing practice constructively, promote innovation, and build strong relationships across services.
