About The Role
We are seeking a strategic leader to join Delivery & Change Excellence (DCE) - the team that drives delivery discipline and operational excellence across Wiley's Technology & Operations organization. You'll establish, scale and embed a model for how T&O executes initiatives while supporting enterprise initiatives where DCE adds value, building capability, driving standards, and proving value through results that help initiatives execute with fewer surprises and validated outcomes.
As a peer leader within Delivery & Change Excellence, you'll oversee program management, project delivery, change management, and operational excellence - collaborating with Portfolio Management, Learning Services, and Enterprise Business Performance to make DCE the credible partner that measurably improves how T&O delivers while supporting enterprise needs.
Reports to GVP, Delivery & Change Excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Drive T&O Delivery Execution: Establish, scale and embed how T&O executes initiatives through embedded delivery support and capability building, ensuring business-critical initiatives execute with fewer surprises while progressively building internal delivery capabilities
Lead Operational Excellence: Drive systematic improvements delivering £2-3M+ annual validated business value through friction removal, bottleneck elimination, and process optimization
Build Delivery Capability: Develop T&O's internal delivery capability through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on support, creating communities of practice across Business Analysis, Project Management, and Change Management disciplines to enable teams to deliver independently
Define Function Strategy: Develop and execute an 18-month roadmap aligned with T&O priorities, balancing primary T&O embedded support with enterprise initiatives where DCE adds value
Enable Strategic Partnerships: Work with T&O Product and Technology leadership to understand delivery challenges and position Delivery & Enablement as the execution partner that helps initiatives succeed
Lead Complex Initiative Delivery: Provide hands-on delivery leadership for business-critical T&O initiatives and enterprise change programs, ensuring successful outcomes through expert program management and change management
Lead Team Development: Build and develop a high-performing team, creating a culture of results-focus, continuous learning, and collaborative partnership while developing direct reports as future leaders
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner actively within the DCE leadership team, ensuring seamless handoffs between portfolio planning (PM&A) and delivery execution (Delivery & Enablement) to establish delivery excellence across T&O and Wiley
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in delivery management, transformation, and operational excellence leadership
Proven track record leading teams of 10+ professionals with demonstrated team development results
Proven track record building delivery functions that generated pull-demand through value
Experience with embedded partnership models working alongside business, product and/or technology teams
Demonstrated success leading operational excellence or process improvement initiatives with quantified business value
Background managing diverse service portfolios with adaptive support models
Experience building organizational capability through coaching, methodology transfer, and knowledge sharing
Preferred Qualifications
12+ years in delivery management, transformation, and operational excellence leadership
7+ years leading teams of 10+ professionals with demonstrated team development results
Track record of building delivery functions from scratch in low-maturity organizations, transforming "order taker" functions into strategic partners that generate pull-demand
Experience leading AI/ML adoption programs and digital workplace transformations, including building self-service tools and capability frameworks
Financial acumen and demonstrated ability to achieve £1M+ cost savings/avoidance through operational improvements
Experience with scaled agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS) and modern delivery methodologies in hybrid agile/waterfall environments
Data analytics capabilities (Power BI, Tableau) for creating performance dashboards and measuring transformation ROI
Success in "player-coach" roles requiring hands-on delivery while building team capability in skeptical or politically complex environments
