About The Role
As a Senior Editor at The Lancet Public Health, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the journal’s editorial direction and advancing its mission to improve health equity and population wellbeing worldwide. You will be responsible for managing peer review, commissioning high-impact content, and writing editorials that influence public health discourse. The role demands strong critical thinking, scientific judgment, and a passion for global health. You will collaborate closely with an international team of editors and researchers, contribute to strategic initiatives, and help uphold the journal’s reputation for editorial excellence, inclusivity, and scientific integrity.

Responsibilities
- Coordinating peer review of Research papers, negotiating revisions
- Reviewing Comments, Correspondence, and commissioning content to meet annual targets.
- Writing editorials
- Cultivating public health connections, surveying literature for journal content, and identifying suitable authors
- Representing the journal at events, identifying topics and authors, and staying current in public health through conferences and gatherings.
- Sub-editing material from all sections of the journal to improve clarity of expression, and to conform to journal style
- Suggesting and helping to develop new initiatives for the further development of the journal
Requirements
- A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline plus editorial experience on a peer reviewed STM journal
- A PhD (in a relevant subject) is desirable
- Have good knowledge of public health and medical sciences
- Be fluent in English (oral and written) and excellent all-round communication skills
- Be able to travel
