We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Engineer - Fuel Storage.

The Senior Engineer – Fuel Storage will work within the Fuel Handling Equipment team to mature the technical solution and delivery programme for the components scope and apply the necessary governance to all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Component Design Leadership Lead the design, analysis, verification, manufacture, and in-service support of fuel storage components. Apply expertise in thermal, structural, radiation shielding, criticality, and irradiation effects to ensure robust and compliant designs.
  • Product Lifecycle Management Deliver across all stages of the product lifecycle—from concept and detailed design through to commissioning and decommissioning. Drive new product and process introduction aligned with programme goals.
  • Programme Delivery Develop and manage complex, integrated programmes, working across functional boundaries to ensure alignment and progress. Manage ambiguity and risk, providing clear direction and strategic input.
  • Team Leadership Lead a small engineering team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative culture. Provide technical direction and ensure governance and assurance are maintained throughout delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships across internal functions—design, analysis, manufacturing, supply chain, and programme management—as well as with external stakeholders including customers, regulators, and suppliers.
  • Communication & Influence Present complex technical topics to varied audiences, including senior leadership. Lead cross-functional discussions and represent the team in external engagements.

About You:

You are a proactive and adaptable leader with a strong background in nuclear component design, particularly within PWR systems. You thrive in complex, evolving environments and bring a collaborative mindset, technical excellence, and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality engineering solutions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in fuel storage or reactor core component design.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and procurement routes.
  • Proven track record in leading product development and cross-functional programmes.
  • Experience managing ambiguity and risk in complex engineering environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Leadership experience in engineering teams with a focus on collaboration and growth.

Pay And Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 - £52,500 DOE plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
