Salary: Up to £ 50,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver all aspects of engineering deliverables including Stage 1 & Stage 2/3 Design, and Change, PQ closure, NC closure, etc.
- Support engineering effort for project deliverables
- Highlight disputes occurring both internally and externally which impact the Type 26 Frigate (T26) PM&C team
- Act as main point of contact for allocated systems & subsystems to other disciplines / areas of the business
- Support to new engineer training and development
- Provide engineering support to the delivery of projects/programs
- Create & Maintain allocated PM&C Documentation as required by the project
- Review, create, resolve & complete comment review sheets for all supplier deliverables
- Act as delegate for principal engineer as required
Essential
Your skills and experiences:
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes in large, complex defence programs
- Good working experience in multi-disciplinary teams and application of systems engineering thinking
- Good working experience in at least one phase of Life Cycle Management, with some understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues
- Understanding of the need to capture and maintain change data and the engineering change process, particularly using Windchill to manage changes to the product
Desirable
- Familiarity with the GCS change management process and Sempre toolset
- Some knowledge of other Platform Systems (e.g. Auxiliaries, HVAC, Electrical, Power and Propulsion) and Combat Systems
- Knowledge of configuration management, concessions/variances
- Prior use of T26 project toolsets (e.g. DOORS, System Architect, Windchill, JIRA, Visio)
The Engineering Team
As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and guidance on functional integration for the T26 Platform Monitoring and Control (PM&C) UK team, engaging with UK stakeholders as well as the supplier throughout the design phases.
Successful delivery of the Platform Management System (PMS) is one of the key activities on the T26 program critical path which needs to be achieved in order to deliver the ship on schedule for the customer. This role is vital to ensuring that the delivery team and the suppliers deliver a product that, once fully integrated, meets functional requirements and the delivery of software functionality from the supplier supports the T26 Set to Work Program. The role is crucial in managing the design dependency with the T26 Reference Ship Design and ensuring effective embodiment of T26 change into the T26 data packs.
