Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager – Vehicle Control

Salary: From £70,000 with executive car allowance and bonus on top
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing support to the Head of Whole Boat Design Delivery / SSNA Engineering Delivery Authority throughout key stages of the products life cycle. With this, you will be accountable for the definition of how the programme shall undertake engineering and design activities across the lifecycle to support the Vehicle Control function
- Manage leadership of the delivery of these activities to the expected quality including provision of leadership, management and technical advice in support of the client’s expectations and requirements
- Provide formal delegation of authority from the SSNA Engineering Delivery Authority for definition and delivery of the Vehicle Control function across the SSNA programme
- Defining and Delivering the SSNA programme strategy for Vehicle Control, to influence and inform future business strategy, capability development and BAE Systems Submarines strategic position as platform integrator
- Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership support to the direct (within SSNA hierarchy) and indirect Engineering managers and deployed engineers that support realisation of the Vehicle Control function
- Be responsible for management of the multi – discipline Engineering Managers, Consultants, Engineers, Modellers and Designers supporting the Vehicle Control function, where line managed within the broader programme and business
Essential
Your skills and experiences:
- Hold recognised expertise and leadership in at least two of the underpinning disciplines of Vehicle Control (Naval Architecture, Systems Engineering, Control System design, Safety application)
- Experience within the engineering lifecycle frameworks and principles alongside System Engineering Principles, Product Integrity Frameworks, Legislation and Compliance
- Prior experience in the leadership of strategic and complex problem-solving
- Leadership and management of teams and stakeholder groups
- Hold a relevant STEM degree or equivalent qualification
Desirable
- Professional chartership, Membership of professional environmental institute (IET, RINA or similar) or working towards

The Whole Boat Integration And Transversal Workstream Team
This is an exciting time to join us in the team and be a part of the Whole Boat Integration and Transversal Workstream which is responsible for the work delivered by the delivery Workstreams results in a mature, balanced platform design in line with the design principles to achieve agreed performance requirements.
The Workstream consists of a number of disciplines which provide the coordinating and management functions across the other delivery Workstreams, for example Safety Engineering and all Transversals ensuring consistency of approach across the platform. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
