Job Description
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
Responsible for the in-the-field enabling of archaeological trial-trenching (ATT) through the assessment of ATT locations for protected and notable species that might be affected by the works, and advising on mitigation strategies. Successful delivery of the role will require close collaboration with the Archaeology Team and a broad knowledge of scheduled species.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day site checks for protected and notable species and communicating ecological permits to the site teams;
- Production and input into ecological reports;
- Monitoring of ecological features that may create a delay to the programme;
- Implementing mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of delay to the programme;
- Undertake ecological surveys prior to vegetation clearance;
- Overseeing site operatives during watching briefs of works in ecological habitat;
- Conducting ecological briefings and tool-box talks to the site teams;
- Ensure works comply with all ecological legislation, consents, objectives, targets, and other environmental commitments throughout construction activities; and,
- Must have a relevant qualification or professional experience and excellent H&S awareness.
Qualifications
- A qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant environment or technical discipline and chartership or full membership of a relevant professional institute (or be working towards the latter).
- Experience of working with contractors on site.
- Excellent H&S awareness.
- Confident in communicating with teams in a construction environment.
- A proactive mind-set, self-motivation and excellent collaboration and team-working skills.
- Problem solving skills
- Document production abilities using various software inc. excel, word, GIS, PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Broad species and habitat capabilities, enabling supervision and permitting for all sensitive receptors on or near the site .
