The role
As a
Senior Environmental Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join our Submarine Support Engineering team and play a vital role in sustaining the operational capability of the UK’s nuclear submarine fleet. From maintaining existing infrastructure to enabling future upgrades, your work will directly contribute to national defence and the continuous at-sea deterrent.
Day-to-day, You’ll Day To Day You’ll Act As a Dedicated Focal Point For Environmental Expertise On Behalf Of Babcock, Submarine Support Engineering By
- Providing environmental expertise across a wide range of complex projects, providing consultancy services to Babcock, Submarine Support Engineering projects.
- Act as lead for Technical lead for Environmental Impact Assessments convened to support submarine design change implementation across the product lifecycle.
- Producing and providing technical assurance of environmental documentation of high technical complexity that supports the submarine environmental safety case.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with regular travel between Devonport Royal Dockyard and Babcock Technology Centre.
Essential Experience Of The Senior Environmental Engineer
- Knowledge of environmental legislative requirements, environmental case management, and sustainability practices.
- Experience in environmental assurance across the product lifecycle, including conducting environmental impact assessments.
- A proven track record as a safety and environmental practitioner, with successful delivery of projects to time, cost, and quality.
- Strong technical report writing skills, ideally with experience producing safety and/or environmental bodies of evidence.
Qualifications For The Senior Environmental Engineer
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline or experience in environmental management and awareness

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
