About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor to join our Power business, supporting major energy infrastructure projects across Scotland. In this role, you’ll provide expert guidance to our project teams, ensuring we meet and exceed environmental and sustainability commitments while driving a culture of continual improvement.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor, You Will

  • Partner with project teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
  • Lead on ecology and sustainability matters, liaising with key regulatory bodies and local authorities.
  • Oversee monthly performance reporting, driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.
  • Support projects from feasibility through to post-construction, ensuring risks and opportunities are managed effectively.
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and incident management, providing visible support across projects.
  • Line manage and mentor Environmental Advisors, Coordinators, and Graduates.
  • Commission and coordinate specialist subcontractors (e.g., ecologists, archaeologists, hydrologists).
  • Contribute to work-winning by advising on planning, permitting, and licensing requirements.
  • Deliver training, raise awareness, and promote best practice across the business.

Who we're looking for

  • Proven experience in environmental and sustainability management within construction, infrastructure, or utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting, and compliance.
  • An ecology background with experience engaging regulators such as SEPA, NatureScot, or Marine Scotland.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A collaborative approach, with experience leading and developing teams.
  • Passion for driving sustainability and delivering positive environmental outcomes.
