Senior Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in commercial cut & carve projects to join our pre-construction team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading complex tenders, working closely with the senior leadership team and eventually stepping into a Director-level position as part of a long-term succession plan.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute estimator to contribute to high-profile, technically challenging schemes, primarily in central London and other urban environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of competitive tenders for large-scale commercial refurbishment and structural alteration projects (cut & carve).
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate cost estimates and BoQs.
• Work closely with bid, design, planning, and procurement teams to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
• Conduct site visits and liaise with supply chain partners to gather essential project information and ensure robust pricing.
• Maintain strong awareness of market conditions, materials, subcontractor costs, and tendering practices.
• Contribute to post-tender negotiations, presentations, and handovers to delivery teams.
• Mentor junior estimators and support wider team development.
• Actively participate in strategic business discussions, supporting the transition into a leadership/director role over time.

Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years of estimating experience within the UK construction industry, with at least 3 years in a senior estimator role.
• Proven track record delivering successful tenders on complex cut & carve commercial projects, ideally valued £30m+.
• Experience working for Tier 1 main contractors on major refurbishment and reconfiguration schemes in live environments.
• Strong commercial acumen, with excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, Candy) and digital take-off tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
• Ambition to step into a leadership role, with the confidence and credibility to contribute to strategic growth.
