All the details
Reporting into the Finance Manager – Property and Intercompany, within the Group Support and Technical structure in Record to Report, you will be responsible for all IFRS 16 accounting matters, where you will engage with key partners up to head of finance level, communicating with and influencing senior business partners on outputs and results, taking complex accounting and turning it into meaningful analysis and commercial insight.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include
- Lead on maintenance of UK Property lease accounting under IFRS 16, across 600+ stores and 900+ leases, with an aggregate lease liability in the region of £2bn, using Qube Horizon software.
- Prepare and post monthly IFRS 16 journals, reporting on actuals vs. budget with a focus on key drivers and clear, concise storytelling.
- As part of month end, responsible for reporting on monthly opportunities and potential risks from an IFRS 16 perspective.
- With the assistance of Finance Manager – Property and Intercompany and Senior Finance Manager – Group Support and Technical, prepare regular in-year re-forecasts and annual budget for IFRS 16.
- Taking ownership of a project to overhaul all IFRS 16 working files to make them simpler and more suited to fast-paced analysis. Wider within property, contribute to a continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure that the service is being delivered in the most effective way, putting the customer at the heart of everything the team delivers.
Who you are
Your Skills And Experience Will Include
- Strong Technical and advisory capabilities, comfortable with principles and concepts of Group accounting under IFRS, particularly IFRS 16, and ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms
- Ability to analyse large sets of data and condense into meaningful analysis and the key messages at speed
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately to tight deadlines
- Experienced accountant with post qualified experience (ACMA, ACA, ACCA)
