Confidential Opportunity: Senior Finance Manager – International Retailer | London HQ - 6 Month FTC

Stanton House is partnering with a high-performing, values-led subsidiary of a global retailer, headquartered in Central London, and generating a revenue of £130m.

The business is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to work with the Financial Controller to oversee the day-to-day financial operations. This role is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong, commercially aware finance leader with a background in audit and an appetite for hands-on leadership in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Role Overview:

This leadership role will oversee the full financial operations across Accounting, Treasury, Controlling, and Accounts Payable, while also driving best-in-class reporting, governance, and insight-led business partnering. The successful candidate will manage a team of seven, including three direct reports, and will lead statutory compliance, internal control frameworks, and audit processes across the UK entity.

You’ll be instrumental in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, managing risk, and supporting senior stakeholders with data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Control & Leadership:

• Lead day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate month-end, year-end, and group reporting processes.
• Manage a team across accounting, AP, and treasury; ensure high performance through coaching, KPIs, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain robust control and compliance frameworks in line with UK GAAP, IFRS, tax, and audit standards.

Business Performance & Partnering:

• Deliver meaningful financial insight to leadership across the business.
• Own and improve management accounts, balance sheet reviews, and variance analysis.
• Support strategic decision-making through scenario planning and cost-benefit analysis.

Treasury, Working Capital & Cashflow:

• Manage weekly and 12-month cash forecasting.
• Oversee treasury operations, approve drawdowns, deposits, and supplier contracts.
• Ensure supplier onboarding aligns with controls and procurement frameworks.

Statutory Reporting & Governance:

• Lead UK tax submissions, including VAT and Corporation Tax.
• Manage internal and external audits, including interim and IT audits.
• Ensure compliance with global reporting requirements and external regulators.

Essential Requirements:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a background in audit (ideally from a top 12 audit firm originally)
• Strong technical grasp of IFRS, UK GAAP, and UK tax compliance.
• Proven experience managing finance teams in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of ERPs and financial reporting tools (e.g. Hyperion, Cognos).
