RPS, a Tetra Tech company is looking for a
Senior Fire Safety Engineer. The team are based at either the
Warrington or
West Cumbria office, however this role can be based at one of our various locations across the UK or
home-based.
About The Team
The fire safety team are a thriving part of our overall RPS Risk team of 50 staff, operating with clients on projects throughout the UK. The fire team support major clients in the development of complex and bespoke fire engineering strategies.

What You Will Be Doing
- Conduct conventional fire engineering assessments and high-hazard scenario analysis and deliver fire safety strategies.
- Guide the design of high hazard buildings and assess risks of fire and its effects.
- Contribute to the delivery of technical fire engineering and safety projects.
- Facilitate fire hazard study workshops.
- Perform fire modelling and interpret the results.
- Evaluate prevention and protective measures required to limit the probability and consequence of fire.
- Understand the design, installation, maintenance requirements for fire detection, suppression and control philosophies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, clients and regulators.
- Understand the commercial impact of all decisions and recognise opportunities for business development.
- Be part of a fire engineering project team or technical lead when required and develop and mentor junior staff.
- Occasional travel to client sites throughout the UK and sometimes overseas.
Who We Are Looking For
- Proven track record for the technical delivery of fire engineering reports.
- Experience of working in an organisation delivering fire engineering projects (Consulting is desirable).
- Knowledge of UK regulations and standards (e.g. Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, PD 7974, etc.) and other regulatory regimes.
- Experienced in liaising with design teams, clients, local authorities, contractors and other third parties.
- Strong numeracy, high attention to detail when report writing and excellent time management skills.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering or other Engineering discipline.
