As we take on a significant new product build, we’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer (Back-End leaning) to join our fully remote team. You’ll be joining a product-focused environment where engineers work hand-in-hand with design and product to shape impactful features from the ground up.

This is a role for someone who thrives in an autonomous, high-ownership environment, can drive backend-heavy builds, and is comfortable working alongside senior engineers across both front- and back-end disciplines.

Eligible operates at the intersection of consumer finance and enterprise software. While our platform is sold B2B2C, our mindset is consumer-first. We replace outdated call-centre and paper-based processes with rich digital experiences that support customers through complex financial decisions.

Today, we manage >1,000,000 mortgage holders and >£100bn in loans through our platform. We’re a team of 25+, operating fully remotely, with deep experience in fintech, engineering, and user-centred design.

What You’ll Do

• Own and deliver high-impact features across the stack, with a strong emphasis on backend development in Python/Django.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of performant, scalable APIs and services.
• Work closely with product and design to define technical solutions that meet real consumer needs.
• Collaborate with senior front-end and back-end engineers to architect and deliver cohesive systems.
• Write clean, testable code and advocate for best practices across engineering.
• Take responsibility for infrastructure, deployments, and monitoring as part of your builds (we use AWS, GitHub Actions, Sentry).
• Participate in sprint planning, retros, and code reviews in a tight, highly collaborative team.

What We’re Looking For

• Deep experience with Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and managing cloud infrastructure (Heroku, Redshift, EC2, RDS, S3, etc.).
• Track record of delivering production-grade APIs, integrations, and backend services.
• Knowledge of modern frontend stacks – ideally React and TypeScript.
• Comfort working in fast-moving, startup-style environments with incomplete information.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for building systems that ultimately serve end users – not just technical elegance.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with B2B2C or regulated industries (e.g., finance, health, insurance).
• Contributions to architecture decisions or platform-level rethinking.
• Involvement in major system redesigns or product launches.

How our team works

We run fortnightly sprints and regular stand-ups. We do regular retrospectives, often after a big project. Our code is on Github, we use pull requests for code review, and we use YouTrack for managing work. We ship code to production daily.
