VolkerTrenchless Solutions (VTS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Visser & Smit Hanab (NL) and VolkerStevin Ltd who are both part of the VolkerWessels group. We have our own in-house engineering division, extensive range of HDD rigs, dedicated staff and being European leaders in executing simple to complex HDD projects. With the added value of our UK/NL partnership we are also able to provide civils and project management support to our specialist drilling activities in the UK to the highest standard.
We are looking for a Site Based Senior General Foreman reporting to the Works Manager delivering the multiple trenchless crossings for our works at Sizewell C using horizontal directional drilling.
Responsibilities
- To provide a safe place of work that complies with current legislation.
- To run the site as directed by the Site Management Plan.
- Responsible for supervising and co-ordinating teams of direct labour and specialist sub-contractors including our JV Drilling partners Visser and Smit Hanab and sub contract labour, meeting targets and contract deadlines.
- To assist with providing information for completion of daily site diary, HDD daily progress reports (DPR), allocation sheets, time sheets, record of labour, progress report sheets, plant returns, material returns and local site purchase sheets.
- To assist in emergency situations as directed by site management.
- To ensure safe working practices are adhered to, as outlined in method statements and risk assessments
- To attend sub contractors’ meetings and site staff meetings.
- To liaise with the site management team passing on relevant information on regular basis.
- To co-ordinate the works in accordance with the relevant programme of works.
- Be aware of responsibilities from the HSEQ policies.
- Responsible for the adherence of project team to information management procedures and requirement.
- To undertake Daily Pre Start Briefings, Tool Box Talks.
- Develop and maintain LOLER and PUWR Registers as required.
About You
- Proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Previous knowledge of cross country pipeline and or cable routes desirable.
- Relevant experience in multiple civil engineering activities including HDD, sheet piling, HDPE welding, lifting operations and general civil engineering construction.
- Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
- Relevant CSCS card
- Experience in heavy plant operations – desirable, not essential.
- Full Driving Licence.
