ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a results-driven and strategic Senior Grocery Account Manager to lead and manage key grocery retailer accounts. This role is responsible for developing and executing best-in-class customer plans, delivering financial targets, and leading commercial projects that support business growth. You will work cross-functionally with category, brand and operations to deliver excellent execution of customer plans & relationships that drive long-term value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Account Management: Own and lead the relationship with major grocery retail accounts, acting as the key point of contact and ensuring a high standard of customer service and partnership (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose etc).
- Customer Planning & Sell-In: Develop and implement customer-specific business plans, including annual joint business planning (JBP), sell-in strategies, promotional execution, and in-store activations.
- Financial Delivery: Take full accountability for the delivery of revenue, margin, and other financial KPIs across your accounts, ensuring accurate forecasting and budget management.
- Retail Activation: Plan and execute impactful in-store and online activations in collaboration with marketing and shopper teams to drive brand visibility and sales performance.
- Commercial Leadership: Lead key commercial initiatives and strategic projects aimed at optimizing performance, entering new channels, or enhancing customer experience.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide insightful analysis of customer performance, competitor activity, and category trends to inform decision-making and adapt plans accordingly.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, marketing, finance, and category teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of customer plans.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in managing major grocery retail accounts at a senior level.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering financial targets.
- Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage both long-term planning and short- term execution.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or commercial initiatives.
- Data-driven with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.o Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
- FMCG experience in a Blue Chip environment
- Experience in working with Tesco’s or Sainsbury’s
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and sales forecasting tools
- Experience in working with category data providers
