WHAT’S THE MISSION FOR THIS ROLE?

As our Senior HR Advisor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the HR Business Partner in delivering high-quality HR services across our Blackburn and Washington distribution centres. You’ll act as the first point of contact and lead for employee relations matters, while also providing generalist HR support and helping to deliver wider HR initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring consistent, fair and compliant practices, and in supporting the development of manager capability across both sites.


WHAT DOES THIS ROLE DO?

As our Senior HR Advisor you will be responsible for:


Employee Relations

  • Acting as the first point of contact for ER issues across both distribution centres.
  • Managing a range of HR casework from informal concerns through to formal grievances, disciplinaries, capability and absence management.
  • Leading ER processes from end-to-end, ensuring fairness, consistency and compliance with employment law, ACAS guidelines and company policy.
  • Attending hearings and meetings to advise managers on process and potential outcomes.


Generalist HR Support

  • Providing day-to-day HR support in partnership with the HR Business Partner and HR colleagues on each site.
  • Advising on HR policies, procedures and best practice across a range of people topics.
  • Supporting the HRBP with cyclical HR activity (e.g. engagement, performance, absence and wellbeing initiatives).


Collaboration & Projects

  • Working closely with the HR Business Partner to deliver HR initiatives across both sites.
  • Providing input and support on HR projects, including policy development, wellbeing, and engagement activities.
  • Sharing feedback and insights to help shape continuous improvement in HR processes and practices.


Manager Capability & Upskilling

  • Coaching managers to handle people issues confidently and appropriately.
  • Supporting management upskilling through delivering briefings, toolkits or workshops with the HRBP.
  • Feeding insights and trends into the HRBP to inform training and development priorities.


WHAT DO I BRING TO THE ROLE?

To stand out in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:


  • Proven experience in a broad HR role as a HR Advisor or ER Advisor role with significant ER end-to-end case management exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
  • Confidence in managing disciplinary and grievance processes from end-to-end.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and coach managers.
  • Comfortable providing clear, practical advice on a range of HR related topics.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload across multiple sites.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly between Blackburn and Washington distribution centres.
