As a Senior Investment Manager, you’ll lead AXA UK & Ireland’s asset allocation strategies with a focus on alternatives. You’ll drive portfolio optimisation, conduct in-depth research, evaluate investment opportunities, and monitor performance to ensure we meet our risk and return objectives. This role offers the chance to influence strategic investment decisions and work closely with internal teams and external managers to deliver sustainable value.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Determine and implement optimal asset allocations within ALM and risk frameworks, with a focus on alternative assets, to maximise risk-adjusted returns
- Manage the ongoing optimisation and monitoring of the portfolio’s earnings and total return, ensuring diversification and adherence to risk and capital constraints
- Originate new investment opportunities through sourcing, due diligence, risk/reward analysis, and presenting findings to investment committees
- Oversee investments in various asset classes including (but not limited to) private/structured Investment grade and High yield assets, Hedge funds, Real Estate, Private Equity, ensuring seamless processing of capital calls, distributions and redemptions
- Negotiate investment terms, fees, and legal documentation with support from internal and external legal and compliance teams
- Manage and monitor relationships with asset managers, ensuring operational excellence and investment performance
- Oversee the efficient execution of investment processes, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting daily investment activities
- Collaborate with AXA Group Centres of Expertise and shape the investment approach in alternatives for long-term strategic alignment

What you’ll bring:
- Master’s degree, CFA, or Actuary qualification, with 7-10 years of experience in asset management, investment banking, or related fields
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a focus on fixed income and alternative assets
- Deep knowledge of investment principles, instruments, and risk management techniques
- Proven experience in portfolio optimisation, asset allocation, and managing complex investment strategies
- Excellent presentation and report-writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and the ability to grasp complex issues quickly
- A team player with a proactive approach to driving investment excellence and innovation
