About Us
The British Business Bank is a government-owned economic development bank dedicated to making finance markets work better for smaller businesses. Our Enterprise Capital Funds (ECF) programme supports high-growth UK SMEs by increasing the supply of equity capital and strengthening the venture capital ecosystem.
The ECF programme is one of BBB’s longest standing and most successful programmes, with £1.4bn committed across 50 funds under 39 different managers since its inception. This has supported over £2.5bn of funding being committed to funds investing in UK early-stage equity. The programme enables new and emerging fund managers to invest in UK SMEs with high growth potential, while also facilitating the development of their own track record and attraction of private capital. The outcomes of the recent Spending Review have meant there will be increased activity in this programme over the coming years (in addition to new initiatives being introduced) and as such the investment activities for the team are expected to significantly grow over time.
We are now seeking a Senior Investment Manager to join our ECF investment team. This is a senior-level role, leading the evaluation of investment opportunities, managing relationships with fund managers, and shaping our investment strategy both within ECF and the wider Investment Business.

- Lead legal documentation review and negotiations with fund managers, working with internal teams and legal advisors.
- Manage a portfolio of venture fund investments, attending advisory boards, handling investor consents, and owning quarterly reporting requirements.
- Represent the ECF team at stakeholder and industry events, contributing to deal flow generation.
- Mentor junior colleagues, sharing expertise and best practice.
- About You
- You’ll have significant financial services experience, excellent commercial acumen, and the ability to manage complex transactions. You’ll also be astrong excellent relationship builder, capable of influencing at senior levels, and comfortable representing the Bank in external forums.
