Company Overview
You will be joining a very modern boutique Law Firm as their Senior Legal Cashier on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a newly created role as the firm are bringing their Cashiering function in-house for the first time. Part of a close-knit team of 5 in finance, you will be reporting directly into the Head of Finance with support from the CFO. Based in their luxurious City of London office 3 days a week, you will have the option to work from home for the remaining 2 days.
Role Responsibilities
In your new role, you will be responsible for leading the team in the development and implementation of Cashier policies and procedures as the role is brought in-house, ensuring client money is handled appropriately and in accordance with the SRA Rules, accurately allocating office and client receivables to the correct nominal or client matter code, accurately performing bill reversals and reallocations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in financial records, preparing daily and month-end bank reconciliations of office and client bank accounts, reviewing and analysing client accounts to identify residual client balances and maintaining the ledger for direct debits and standing order as they are received. You will liaise directly with the Credit Control and Billing team to ensure that funds are allocated in a timely manner, support and coach other members of staff and support with ad-hoc finance projects as the firm prepares to enter a significant growth phase.
Role Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need to have at least 2-3 years of experience in a Legal Cashiering role and ideally have experience with wider finance duties such as analysis, reporting and supporting with the month-end close process. You will have a strong understanding of the SRA Rules and be a professional, confident and articulate individual with strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels across the business. You will enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment and be happy taking full ownership of the Cashiering process. You will be a willing, proactive and enthusiastic individual with an outstanding work ethic and a demonstrable passion for delivering excellent service. You will ideally have experience using Actionstep Legal system and be competent with the use of Excel to an intermediate level.
