Senior Legal Counsel – Real Estate
Location: Blackburn (office-based)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 + Bonus Scheme
Overview:
A leading UK organisation is seeking a skilled Senior Legal Counsel to play a key role in its growing legal function. This position is ideal for a property lawyer looking to broaden their in-house experience while working on high-value real estate matters and cross-functional legal projects. You’ll join a commercially driven team where legal input is central to strategic decision-making.
The Role:
As Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of legal work, with a focus on real estate transactions and broader commercial activity. The position offers autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to engage directly with stakeholders across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading on title investigations and preparing detailed due diligence reports
- Drafting and negotiating property-related agreements, including leases, licences, and purchase contracts
- Advising on legal issues arising in infrastructure and utility projects
- Supporting M&A and other corporate transactions with property components
- Maintaining compliance with real estate regulatory requirements
- Contributing to commercial, litigation, and data protection matters as needed
- Overseeing work carried out by external counsel
- Providing mentorship and support to junior legal team members
What we’re looking for:
- A qualified solicitor in England & Wales with at least 5–6 years’ PQE
- Solid background in commercial real estate, including transactional and development work
- Confident handling a wide range of agreements, including those relating to leasing, sales, and site infrastructure
- Commercially minded with a proactive, collaborative approach
- Previous in-house experience is welcome but not essential
