Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and busiest paediatric surgical units in the country as a Post CCT Subspecialty Fellowship in Paediatric Surgery. Within the 12 month Fellowship we are able to offer subspecialist training within paediatric upper GI/Thoracic surgery, oncology surgery or lower GI surgery. The aim is to tailor the Fellowship to the needs of the successful candidate.
The Department of Paediatric Surgery is the specialist children’s surgery centre in North West England including Neonatal, Oncological, Thoracic, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and specialist day-case surgery, and the surgery of intestinal failure and short bowel; supra-regional service supporting exstrophy, hyperinsulinaemia of the New-born, Metabolic disorders.
Within the 12 month Fellowship we are able to offer subspecialist training within paediatric upper GI/Thoracic surgery, oncology surgery or lower GI surgery. The aim is to tailor the Fellowship to the needs of the successful candidate. In addition to the subspecialist fellow training during the day time, the fellow will participate in the Consultant on-call rota.
The Fellow will provide emergency paediatric and neonatal surgery as part of a hot-week system with 1 in 12 prospective on call cover on the consultant rota. The fixed weekday on call will be a Wednesday (once every 3 weeks), with either a Friday/Sunday or Saturday on call every 6 weeks. Support will be provided by the existing 11 consultants.
