We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Severe Asthma and Airways teams within the Respiratory Directorate service based at our Wythenshawe site.
The main duties of the role will be to provide diagnosis, management and treatment for patients.
The Severe Asthma Service at Wythenshawe Hospital is a multi-disciplinary service. It has over 30 team members working closely together to provide excellent clinical care and patient outcomes. It is a one of the largest NHSE accredited specialist centres for the initiation of biologic therapies in the UK and currently manages approximately 1300 patients on monoclonal antibody treatments and rising. It is also a recognised centre for bronchial thermoplasty and has the only sputum analysis service in the North West. The team are actively involved in asthma research. The service is a founder member of the Northwest Severe Asthma Network and is the host Trust for the Network with a regular regional monthly MDT as well as weekly local and MFT wide MDT meetings.
The Airways service focuses on investigating and managing difficult-to-treat respiratory symptoms, often caused by inducible laryngeal obstruction (vocal cord dysfunction) and breathing pattern disorder, having originally developed out of the severe asthma service. The Airways service run one-stop assessment clinics and laryngoscopy lists, and play a leading national and international role in education and research for these conditions.
