Job Description

Role Overview:

To manage a portfolio of key corporate clients within the GMS practice, providing expert technical advice and strategic guidance on complex global mobility issues, while contributing to business development activities, leading a team and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development:

Provide senior support for core GMS growth business development opportunities.

Support sales of specialist team/technology sales initiatives, providing technical expertise and client insights within the service line.

Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and new service offerings to meet evolving client needs.

Identify and pursue any wider People Taxes opportunities with existing GMS clients.

Brand management – ensuring that KPMG GMS is known in the market through proactive support of our Eminence plan, regular use of social media and through attendance at industry events.

Relationship Management:

Manage key corporate client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and point of contact for complex global mobility issues.

Proactively manage and resolve client escalations, ensuring client satisfaction and retention of clients.

Proactively provide clients with relevant insights and updates on global mobility trends.

Responsible for billing end client.

Technical:

Provide sign-off on complex technical advice, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client objectives.

Provide strategic guidance and oversight for advisory projects, ensuring successful delivery and client satisfaction.

Lead tailored tax briefings and training sessions for clients and internal team members within GMS.

Provide KDN (Knowledge Delivery Network) and KGS oversight for UK clients within the GMS practice, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, up-to-date information.

Review and sign-out technical work that is prepared in the Delivery Team.

Internal Management:

Oversee operational activities within the team, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with KPMG's strategic objectives.

Manage and mentor team members, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team.

Ensure excellent financial hygiene on all client engagements to ensure the financial health of GMS.

Lead risk management efforts, ensuring compliance with KPMG policies, regulations, and ethical standards.

Skills And Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to analyse the most complex residency cases and advise clearly.
  • Ability to lead tailored tax briefings to senior executives, including an ability to cover all matters of risk, without losing focus on key relevant points.
  • Confident in advising on executive assignment structuring, methods to redesign packages to be more tax-efficient, and able to explain changes to a range of stakeholders.
  • Confident in preparing and reviewing detailed disclosures to HMRC (PAYE and SA).
  • Awareness of non-UK technical changes relevant to client base.
  • Detailed knowledge of the UK taxation of business travellers, non-resident directors and remote workers including, but not limited to application of double tax treaties, the economic employer rules and application of 60-day rule, and their payroll implications and reporting. Able to analyse tax, social security, and payroll issues arising from cross border working, including but not limited to dual-contracts, commuter arrangements, consultancy agreements and provide strategic solutions.
  • Ability to oversee complex multi-jurisdictional tax advisory projects, ensuring key conclusions are presented in an insightful and easy to understand manner.
  • Good knowledge of international pensions rules.
  • Able to advise a client on their mobility policies with reference to the wider market.
  • A good working knowledge of our GMS technology tools including KPMG LINK Go, GET, GPM and BT.
  • A good awareness of social security rules and the Posted Worker Directive.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Proven ability to contribute to business development and achieve sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues (both in the UK and globally).
  • Ability to think critically and provide practical solutions to complex challenges within the GMS market.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Experience:

  • Significant experience in providing expert technical advice on global mobility matters.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Proven track record of contributing to business development and achieving sales targets.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ATT, CTA).
