This role is part of the Group Risk function which covers all aspects of Operational, Financial and Strategic risk from a 2LoD (2nd Line of Defence) perspective, giving insight and exposure to all areas of the Group. The Data & Analytics (D&A) risk coverage team, within Group Risk, is responsible for the provision of risk advice and risk oversight of the business (1LoD). The team also supports the co-ordination of reporting and analysis of the risk profile. The role is based in New York and reports to the Head of Risk, Trading & Sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily supporting the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework across the D&A Investment & Wealth Solutions (IWS) function
- Maintaining strong stakeholder engagement across all three lines of defence so that the operational risk framework has full buy-in from senior management and appropriately addresses their risk management needs
- Supporting 1LoD team in delivering and maintaining the Risk and Control Assessment (RCA), whilst providing effective and robust review and challenge of the risk assessments, including ensuring effective risk remediation actions are identified to address control vulnerabilities
- Ensure all risks identified as being outside appetite have remediation plans which are monitored through the relevant governance forums
- Attending incident review meetings and providing trend analysis of incidents from a 2LoD risk perspective that supports reporting and analysis of the risk profile.
- Conducting risk reviews and “deep dive” investigations
- Providing independent 2LoD assessment of emerging and change risks associated with new strategy, new products, major projects; as well as those impacting the overall risk profile
- Support 1LOD to document controls to ensure a complete and accurate control inventory, including the review and challenge of relevant risk-based control testing
- Contributing to the collation and preparation of materials for relevant risk reporting committees
- Identifying and reporting risks to relevant committees, key business stakeholders and senior management, providing expert advice and guidance in all matters relating to risk management for relevant areas
- Key focus of the role is to partner with the business to help evaluate risks including complaint, query and incident analysis and other key risk indicators
- Key to the success of this role will be collaborating as part of the D&A Divisional Risk coverage team and across the broader Group Risk team, Group Risk function and relevant partners in other Divisions, i.e. Technology, Operations and Corporate functions
Experience
- ▪ Ideal candidate will have a 3+ years of experience in one of the following Risk areas - Enterprise Risk Management / Operational Risk Management or Non-Financial Risk Management 2
- Operational risk management expertise with experience of other risk types considered an advantage
- Solid stakeholder management skills, with the credibility and expertise to influence at the senior management level
- Understanding and experience of Front Office functions / products within Banking / Financial Services
- Sound judgement with experience of balancing competing factors to deliver optimal outcomes.
- Previous experience in addition to above of working in Compliance, Audit or Governance roles would be beneficial
Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification or relevant professional qualifications / experience (with a risk/compliance/audit nexus)
