Role Purpose
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring optimised and robust technical solutions are implemented to cost, quality and schedule requirements. Also, they will be the delegated authority in absence of the ME Team Leader / Specialist ME in dealing with people issues and managing of workload/tasks.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementing optimised and robust technical solutions in response to customer requirements.
- Responsible for management and implementation of engineering change to effectively and efficiently meet customer requirements and schedule.
- Responsible for managing all technical discussion and communication streams ensuring all stakeholders are consulted and informed as and when required.
- Responsible for managing any concurrent engineering tasks.
- Responsible for elements of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) including Manufacturing Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA’s, Control Plans and similar associated toolsets.
- Highlighting technical risks to the ME Team Leader/Specialist ME ensuring mitigation actions are in place where possible.
- Be the key integrator between supplier and customer in all technical discussion.
- Responsible for the management and development of accurate “bills of materials” maintained within the Enterprise Resource Planning system. Ensuring that valid and recognised engineering methods are deployed within the manufacturing process.
- Responsible for understanding and communicating complex technical information into simple language that can be conveyed to senior management and non-technical staff.
- Ensuring effective data control and configuration mechanisms.
- Responsible for the translation of Design Engineering data and specifications into clear and concise work instructions in line with customer and regulatory authority requirements.
- Responsible for the maintenance, development and compilation of detail packages of work and Conditions of Supply for external manufacture with suppliers.
- Liaising with customers, design departments and regulatory authorities to ensure product integrity and compliance.
- Responsible for checking and acceptance of new and modified design solutions.
- Responsible for provision of Manufacturing Engineering support to external customers and contractors.
- Assist with technical element to allow close out of customer non-conformances.
- Responsible for the compilation and presentation of Manufacturing Engineering elements at internal and external reviews.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities of sub-contract and full time Manufacturing Engineers including workload distribution.
- Responsible for people issues, managing of workload/tasks and related timekeeping responsibilities.in the absence of the Engineering Team Leader / Specialist ME.
- Support the ME Teal Leader / Specialist ME in discharging people issues such as Performance Management, training/development and related timekeeping responsibilities.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a related engineering discipline
- Have 5 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills - interface with customers and suppliers
- Knowledge of Engineering Change
- Knowledge of engineering systems and the ability to deploy Continuous Improvement methods
- Awareness of drawings and systems as applied within our major customers such as Boeing and Airbus
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
Decision Making Authority
- Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures.
- Decisions affecting own role job seldom require approval. Decisions impacting on own team/department, other projects/functions or suppliers/customer may require approval from ME Team Leader/Specialist ME.
- The job holder is likely to be responsible for direct reports, indirect reports and contract staff. Will generally be responsible for the leadership of others, for co-ordinating or supervising a team member or team; scheduling hours, checking results, taking actions to ensure quality standards are met and conducting performance assessments on others.
