Senior Mobile Engineer

We are a digitally transformed, tech-enabled security services company. We're on the lookout for a dynamic individual to join our team as our Senior Mobile Engineer to help shape the direction of our React Native app. This is an opportunity to take the lead on mobile in a company that's building fast, solving real problems, and wants to experiment with modern approaches such as computer vision, behaviour modelling, and gamification. You’ll make critical technical decisions, steer the architecture, raise the bar for quality across the board and have the opportunity to grow the team.

You’ll work closely with our Lead Engineer and product team to bring ideas to life and move quickly on the things that matter. There’s plenty of room to make an impact, and your voice will help shape how we build and scale. The tools you’ll work on power security teams in high-pressure environments, ranging from critical national infrastructure to medieval castles to some of the UK’s largest facilities providers. It's a chance to build products that are not only beautifully crafted but genuinely useful in the real world.

What we’re working on

• Our mobile app, crafted in Typescript/React Native and powered by TanStack Query for state management, ensures a seamless and engaging user experience.
• For our thrilling new product launch, we've developed a cutting-edge risk consultancy dashboard with NextJS, Zustand and TanStack Query.
• We're committed to maintaining a high code coverage for our applications, providing confidence that everything we release undergoes rigorous testing and verification.
• We have a strong dedication to continuous improvement, constantly enhancing our development tools, methods, and technology stack. Whether it's optimising our integration pipeline or refining our release processes, we're all about boosting efficiency.

What you’re about

Technical:

• 4+ years building robust, maintainable mobile apps in production.
• Proficient in TypeScript, React Native, Zustand, Tailwind/Nativewind, SCSS.
• Skilled in writing automated tests.
• Focused on performance optimisation and mobile security best practices.
• Experienced across the stack (RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, basic cloud infrastructure).
• Advocate for clean code, UI/UX best practices, and scalable architecture.
• Strong at debugging complex issues and ensuring production stability.

Interview Process

• The first "hello" – (15mins Call) - This is a casual call with our awesome Talent Specialist. It’s your chance to learn more about TKC and give us a brief overview of your experience and what brings you here. Nothing formal, just a nice intro to kick things off.
• Meet the Lead Engineer – (1hr MS Teams) - Next up, you’ll meet Sam for a deeper dive into company culture, the role, and a chat about your work experience. We’ll go over your past projects, what gets you excited about front-end development, and how you could help us innovate!
• Show us your skills – (Take home exercise) - Here’s where you get to show off your coding prowess! We’ll send you a technical challenge to complete in your own time. It’s designed to give us insight into how you approach problem-solving and development.
• The big one (1hr 30mins – MS Teams OR F2F) - This is the final stage! You’ll take part in a technical review with Sam to explore your approach, skills, and thinking process. Lucas, our CTO, will join towards the end for a final conversation to wrap things up.
