CCP Games is looking for a contractor to work as a Senior Network Engineer!
As a senior network engineer, you’ll be helping us architect, manage, and scale our AAA rated MMO, EVE Online, to greater heights by designing and building our low latency network that acts as the lifeblood of our game. As a contractor for the EVE infrastructure team, you’ll have the opportunity to continually innovate, finding solutions to new challenges to deliver EVE to millions of players around the world. Keeping our network maintainable, reliable, and scaleable ensures that our players can stay flying in virtual space day after day. This contractor role is based in London and remote work is possible for the right candidate.
Your Tasks:
- Providing technical design and implementations for network monitoring and observability
- Developing network automation solutions
- Designing and improving processes for network maintenance, such as firmware patches, hotfixes, and security configurations
- Enhancing the culture of day-to-day operations within CCP Games by writing documentation, training on-callers to mitigate incidents, and developing operational standards
- Optimizing the network between our on-prem and cloud environments by translating technical requirements into low level network designs
- Provide feedback and guidance to infrastructure engineers for design improvements based on network performance
Your Profile:
- 5+ years of network engineering and automation experience, with a focus on internet and datacenter operations.
- Hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of key network protocols and concepts, such as DNS, OSPF, BGP, NAT, TCP/IP routing, and load balancing.
- Experience designing and implementing zero-trust security infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, such as Cloudflare Magic Transit, AWS Direct Connect, ALB, VPCs, etc.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and programming languages, such as Python, Go, Ansible, Salt, or Bash.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, version control (like git), and infrastructure as code.
- Familiarity with Cisco operating systems - CCNP preferred.
