About The Role
The post holder will
- Provide a comprehensive range of simple and complex, fixed, functional and removable appliances in technical support to the Orthodontic clinicians.
- Provide technical support for Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and other specialties when required.
- Provide appliances for sleep apnoea clinic.
Main duties
- Maintain a high standard of technical expertise across a broad range of Orthodontic appliances using specialist knowledge of current techniques and innovations as appropriate.
- When required carry out production work for other clinical specialties appropriate to the grade.
- Undertake PAR scoring of Orthodontic models to enable clinician’s outcomes to be assessed.
- Assist with supervision and training of junior members of staff.
- Manage own workload and prioritise work accordingly. Supervise workload of junior staff.
- Participate in Orthognathic planning and maintain the database.
- Ability to respond rapidly to clinical need and carry out unscheduled work promptly.
Essential Person Specification Requirements
- BSc(hons) in Dental Technology, HNC in Dental Technology or equivalent
- Post qualification experience of working in an orthodontic laboratory
- Able to manipulate precision tools, wire components and materials with a high degree of accuracy
- Highly motivated and flexible approach to work
- Evidence of ongoing development
