Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £61,800 and London £57,000 to 68,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

We’re recruiting for talented individuals to join the Payments Supervision Department. In this department, we assess regulated firms and ensure they are not conducting activity that can cause harm to consumers. We’re looking for people who are curious and looking for a challenging and rewarding jobs protecting UK consumers. The role of the payments services sector is rapidly becoming increasingly significant to the operation of the UK financial services system and beyond.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for personal development and progression in this innovative, fast-expanding and technology-based sector.
What will you be doing?
- You will get to understand how regulated firms make their money, assessing the risks this presents to their customers and the markets in which they operate and determining how the firms manage these risks to stop customers being harmed, for example through the loss of their money
- Assessing regulated firms’ compliance, against the relevant rules and requirements
- Influencing senior industry figures to change how they operate, if they are not meeting the rules and requirements and in the most severe cases taking regulatory action to stop firms operating their businesses
- Collaborating effectively and proactively with colleagues across the FCA, other regulators and law enforcement agencies both in the UK and internationally

- Play a key role in shaping and influencing strategy and policymaking in this sector as the role of Payments and E-money firms becomes increasingly significant to the financial system
- Work within a dynamic and innovative team, contributing to wider divisional and FCA wide opportunities to move onward towards leadership roles.

Minimum
- Experience of analysing complex information and making sound risk-based judgements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of managing relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management
- Experience in managing a varied and high-volume workload, consistently meeting tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
Essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including ability to write briefings and letters
- Experience of investigations or other problem-solving case work
- Curiosity, drive and motivation to continually learn about and investigate issues within the firms and industry we supervise
- Willingness to learn and develop yourself and others, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to your work
- Experience of successful teamwork. You will work with others to deliver outcomes and achieve tasks, and you will proactively offer your support to colleagues
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
