Overview
We’re looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join our team. You’ll work on a cutting-edge, data-driven platform that supports global digital solutions. This platform is built as a headless, RESTful PHP application and integrates with various frontend technologies. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and evolving this platform, ensuring it’s secure, efficient, and scalable.
You’ll collaborate with a talented team, including the Principal Developer and Head of Technology, to shape the future of our backend systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll contribute to the development of modular microservices and cloud-native solutions.
Environment is Hybrid where you will be expected to come into the office once a week (near commutes to our offices are London, Liphook, Wakefield, Leeds, Manchester or Bristol)
How You'll Make An Impact
In this role, you’ll maintain and improve our PHP-based platform, focusing on stability, security, and performance. You’ll develop reusable and scalable backend services using PHP 8, Symfony, and Doctrine ORM.
You’ll also help transition our platform to a microservices architecture, ensuring seamless integration with frontend applications via RESTful APIs. Your work will directly impact the scalability and efficiency of our systems, supporting a wide range of client solutions.
Additionally, you’ll collaborate on API design, support CI/CD workflows, and contribute to secure coding practices. You’ll also mentor junior developers and stay updated on the latest advancements in PHP and cloud-native design.
About You
You’re an experienced PHP developer with a strong background in Symfony and relational databases like MySQL. You’re familiar with containerised development using Docker and Kubernetes and have experience with microservices and event-driven systems.
You understand secure development principles and modern workflows like Git and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure) is a plus.
You’re a problem-solver with excellent debugging and optimisation skills. You’re also a team player who enjoys mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative environment.
