Every project we take on directly contributes to creating better places for people to live, work, and thrive. As a Senior Planner you be involved in meaningful planning solutions from day one. This role can be based in our Cheltenham or London offices.
What you need to do to be effective in this role
- Support the team in providing high-quality planning advice and exceptional client care.
- Manage smaller-scale projects from inception through to completion, with guidance and oversight from senior team members.
- Support senior team members on larger more complex projects by conducting research, analysis, attendance at meetings and contributing to project deliverables.
- Research and prepare planning appraisals for potential development proposals.
- Coordinate and contribute to the preparation and submission of a variety of planning applications and appeals.
- Draft clear, concise written reports to support planning applications and appeals.
- Assist with researching and drafting Local Plan representations, promoting sites and supporting more senior colleagues at Examinations in Public.
- Liaise with local planning authorities, consultees, clients and third parties to support effective project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and other professionals.
- Keep up to date with changes in planning policy, guidance, legislation and case law, and maintain awareness of market conditions.
- Attend site visits and client meetings where required.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
- Relevant RTPI accredited degree.
- Working towards or already a member of the RTPI.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own car for day to day business requirements.
