A Brief Overview
Portfolio managers in RGA’s investment division are at the heart of the department working with credit research and trading, alternative asset class managers (both internal and external) and business partners across the business and geographies to ensure portfolios meet their long term goals. Portfolio managers formulate and present the structural, long term asset allocation and the tactical investment strategy of portfolios, whilst maximizing investment income in a risk and capital controlled framework to meet insurance liabilities. The individual would balance the day to day responsibilities of portfolio management across global public fixed income and alternative asset classes, with technical project-based work with a broad array of stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Senior member of the Global Portfolio Management team collaborating to set and monitor the Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocation of Reinsurance transactions and business lines
- Enhance and maximise, risk and capital adjusted investment income through day to day management and strategic investment initiatives
- Supports the efficient implementation of cash management, compliance to reinsurance treaties, and fundamental, value-driven views of the credit research and trading team
- Working closely with business development and new deal team representing the inforce portfolio management team and, providing detailed support and input on investment strategy and deal construction
- Support and help develop talent in the Global Portfolio Management team
- Works closely with Treasury, Structured Finance and other business areas on projects related to balance sheet optimization
- Suggests, reviews, and assesses new tools and frameworks to improve portfolio construction, relative value, performance attribution and other tools related to the investment process
- Conduct detailed portfolio reviews and optimize assets across reinsurance deals, collateral arrangements, legal entities and capital jurisdictions
- Develop strategic relationships with external contacts and internal cross-functional areas
- Drives growth of the private asset platform internationally through detailed underwriting and structuring
- Leads due diligence process and oversight for new asset class opportunities, including external manager RFPs and reinsurance deal related opportunities
- Continues to enhance the asset liability framework across regulatory jurisdictions and business lines
- Track performance relative to the investment income plan of reinsurance transactions and business lines, and make adjustments based on market conditions
- Supports the efficient formulation and response to management and regulatory requests
Qualifications
- Batchelor’s or postgraduate degree in an Economics/Finance/Mathematical related field
- CFA or significant progress towards
- 5+ years corporate or structured credit, or alternative/private investment experience
- 5+ years experience in a portfolio management in an asset liability framework, or insurance client solutions environment
- Demonstrable track record of the successful implementation of Investment/portfolio strategies
- Understanding of various regulatory frameworks for insurance, including Solvency II, BSCR and other RBC frameworks
- Advanced programming and MS Office skills
- Experience using Blackrock Aladdin and Bloomberg (preferred)
- Advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal and external customers to resolve issues or problems
- Advanced ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
