Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an experienced Hardware Architect to work with our client, hybrid attendance at Templecombe. In this role the successful candidate will lead the definition and design of hardware architectures supporting ASW capabilities. This will include electronics, power, and mechanical integration for sonar, sensors, and control systems.
We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with aerospace or military experience.

Responsibilities
The Hardware Architect will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of ASW Sonar and Sensor products:
- Define and manage hardware architectures for ASW sonar and sensor systems
- Develop specifications, interface control documents, and hardware integration strategies
- Collaborate with systems and software architects to ensure coherent end-to-end solutions
- Lead hardware trade studies, risk assessments, and design reviews
- Support design for manufacture, environmental qualification, and through-life support considerations
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of electronics, power distribution, and mechanical integration.
- Familiarity with environmental standards (e.g. DEF STAN, MIL-STD) for underwater systems.
- Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams through the design life cycle.
Desired Skills
- Ability to analyse complex technical problems and generate effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
Experience
- 15 years post graduate work experience relevant to this role
- Experience in hardware architecture for defence or complex engineering systems.
- Submarine or wider Maritime Defence experience preferred; SONAR experience is a distinct advantage.
- Design for Test/Design for Manufacture
- Evidencing solutions meet requirements
- Understanding of environmental requirements and the verification/validation of same.
