THE ROLE.
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for developing and communicating a clear vision and strategy for Nuke Studio, Hiero, HieroPlayer as well as contributing to the strategy for the wider Nuke family of Compositing, Editorial and Review tools. As a Senior Product Manager, the role combines management of existing product lines as well as developing future-looking workflows with a focus on applying current and rising technologies to solve the challenges of creatives.
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for ongoing development and growth of their products, both the Nuke Timeline tools and the broader Nuke family strategy. Reporting to the Director of Product for Compositing and Timeline, you will collaborate with a team of Product managers, as well as Engineering Managers and product leaders across the business.
In addition to developing and communicating a clear product vision, you will have the drive to make that vision a reality through working closely with the product, development teams and go to market teams. You must enjoy spending time in the field being an evangelist for the product line, understanding and anticipating current and future customer problems and delivering innovative ideas and solutions to our customers. You will track commercial and engagement targets and market developments, identifying risks and suggesting corrections when appropriate.
The Senior Product Manager combines a keen understanding of creative workflows with technical and business savvy to develop successful products. You must know how to prioritise, communicate clearly and compellingly, and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence through building key partnerships with technology and business leaders, leading by influence across the wider business.
Job requirements
- Degree in VFX, Engineering or Computer Science
- 4+ years of technology management experience or 5+ years of VFX production experience in a technical or artist role
- Expert knowledge of VFX and compositing tools and workflows, in particular Nuke
- Excellent knowledge of VFX industry technology, in particular ingest, conform, VFX and review workflows desired,
- Experience in working with OCIO, ACES, Camera file formats, Alembic, USD, and other industry standards
- Additional knowledge of similar packages, Flame, Resolve, and After Effects a plus
- Proven leadership and project management ability, excellent business judgement, and the ability to develop trusted relationships
- Self-starter with the maturity to work independently with a strong sense of urgency and reputation for producing the highest quality of work
- Curious nature, constantly seeking out new information and skills
- Proven track record as a creative and strategic thinker with the ability to drive to clear decisions
- Ability to balance multiple priorities effectively within a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytic skills and a record of measuring and analysing results
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills
Job responsibilities
- Accountable for ongoing development and growth of product management remit and building skill and influence across the product organisation and wider business.
- Develop a compelling, differentiated strategy and vision for these products through gaining a deep understanding of existing and potential customer needs, market trends, and competitive solutions, with support from the Director of Product and in line with company and product objectives.
- Translate product strategy into features and performance requirements that add value to existing and potential users, grow market share and improve customer experience across the product line.
- Oversee the delivery of product roadmap features and improvements, with the support of an Associate Product Manager and the wider PM team as needed.
- Instigate and lead market research and discovery activities, identifying customer problems and potential opportunities as well as validating ideas and work in progress.
- Responsible for creating and supporting initiatives across the company that add value for customers and improve adoption and retention, from sales enablement to marketing campaigns, and support activities.
- Tracking commercial and engagement targets and market developments, identifying risks and suggesting corrections when appropriate.
- Working together with senior product and engineering leaders on Foundry’s Research team, identify, validate and refine workflows for research-led product extensions and potential new products.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives that support all aspects of the business in delivering product success (dev processes, creating and reviewing content, support processes, release quality tracking, etc.).
- Document and communicate customer feedback, user needs, and workflows for the product and engineering teams and the wider business.
- Balances multiple priorities effectively with a high level of autonomy and confidently works through areas of high uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Line management, coaching and development of direct reports, where relevant.
