About The Role
Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution team is seeking an experienced
Senior Project Manager (Cabling) to lead our high-profile
BTNO Project in Ipswich.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to have
overall accountability for successful project delivery – including
initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/closeout.
What you’ll do
- Take full ownership of the project lifecycle, ensuring objectives for time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits are achieved.
- Act as a change agent, providing strong leadership and management to inspire and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding results.
- Determine and implement the most effective means of satisfying customer and project requirements.
- Drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement across all phases of the project.
What you'll be doing
- Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Ensure reports provide relevant information which enables decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall strategy
- Lead a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
- Develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests
- Develop high performing diverse teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management
- Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes
- Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines
- Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification
- Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource loaded schedules
- Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
- Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery – data driven decisions
Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential
- Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
- Commercially astute
- Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
- Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
- A record of a solutions based approach to problem solving
- The ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team
The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable
- Experience of working on a variety of project types
- Is a member of a professional management body i.e. APM
- Proficient on O365
- Holds a current driving license
- Attend and contribute to industry events
- Holds a formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction or experience equivalent
- Holds either the APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ
- Holds CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent
