Senior Project Manager

About The Role

Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution team is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Cabling) to lead our high-profile BTNO Project in Ipswich.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to have overall accountability for successful project delivery – including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/closeout.

What you’ll do

• Take full ownership of the project lifecycle, ensuring objectives for time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits are achieved.
• Act as a change agent, providing strong leadership and management to inspire and coordinate a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding results.
• Determine and implement the most effective means of satisfying customer and project requirements.
• Drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement across all phases of the project.
  
  

What you'll be doing

• Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
• Ensure reports provide relevant information which enables decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall strategy
• Lead a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
• Develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests
• Develop high performing diverse teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management
• Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes
• Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines
• Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification
• Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource loaded schedules
• Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
• Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery – data driven decisions
  
  

Who we're looking for

The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential

• Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
• Experience in implementing safe systems of work
• Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
• Proficient in commercial/project management communications
• Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
• Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
• Commercially astute
• Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
• Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
• A record of a solutions based approach to problem solving
• The ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team
  
  

The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable

• Experience of working on a variety of project types
• Is a member of a professional management body i.e. APM
• Proficient on O365
• Holds a current driving license
• Attend and contribute to industry events
• Holds a formal qualification (BSc/MSc) in management/construction or experience equivalent
• Holds either the APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ
• Holds CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent
