Our client, a leading main contractor operating across the UK, is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support its growing project portfolio in London. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the planning and delivery of major construction schemes valued between £10M and £100M, working from one of the client’s offices in Central London, Loughton, or Maple Cross.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior-level planning professional to make a real impact across both pre-construction and live project phases, offering expert planning input and leadership on complex, high-value schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Tender Stage Planning: Assist bid teams by preparing well-structured and realistic tender programmes that reflect methodology and construction sequence.
• Programme Management: Create, update, and manage detailed programmes using Asta Powerproject and Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with project milestones and contract requirements.
• Site Engagement: Attend project sites regularly to provide planning advice, validate progress, and collaborate with delivery teams.
• Progress Analysis: Monitor actual performance, identify potential delays or risks, and implement recovery strategies to maintain programme integrity.
• Planning Leadership: Provide consistent, informed planning support across multiple projects, acting as a key advisor to project managers and commercial leads.
• Contractual Compliance: Ensure all planning and reporting activities align with NEC contract provisions and company procedures.

Candidate Profile

Our client is looking for an accomplished planning professional with:

• Substantial experience working as a Planner or Senior Planner in a main contracting environment.
• Proven ability to support both tender planning and live construction delivery on projects typically ranging from £20M to £80M+.
• Strong working knowledge of Asta Powerproject and Microsoft Project.
• Experience operating under NEC contract frameworks, including understanding of compensation events and programme acceptance.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working with diverse project teams.
