We are partnering with Red Tractor to recruit a Senior Public Affairs Manager, a pivotal role shaping how farm assurance contributes to the future of British food and farming. Decisions made within UK government, from the Animal Welfare Strategy and Farm Profitability Review to the UK Food Strategy, have a significant impact on Red Tractor and its stakeholders. This role ensures that the value of assurance is understood in these debates and that Red Tractor’s voice is heard.

Why this role matters:

Effective engagement with government and regulators is essential to secure earned recognition, influence food labelling decisions, and create an enabling environment for responsible food production. Acting as the central contact for government, regulators, and policy organisations, the Senior Public Affairs Manager will coordinate strategies to strengthen relationships and inform Red Tractor’s standards.

Key responsibilities:

Lead strategic engagement with political decision-makers
Build relationships with MPs, regulators, and advocacy groups
Monitor policy developments and provide actionable insights

Develop impactful communications and educational materials

Work with colleagues and partner organisations to create win-win solutions for government and farmers

Ideal candidate:

Proven experience in public affairs, policy, or government relations
Excellent networking and communication skills
Ability to translate complex policy into clear, actionable strategies
